  • Work included removal of existing lighting, ITS, and signing infrastructure, along with installation of (35) roadway lighting poles, (4) 120’ high mast towers, (2) 140’ high mast towers, and associated drilled shaft foundations constructed in sandy soils with high groundwater using wet slurry methods. The project also included (8) control cabinets, (31) handholes, and over (10,400 LF) of electrical circuits.
  • The ITS scope included installation of fiber optic and communication systems, including over (14,000 LF) of fiber optic cabling, underground conduit installed via trenching and boring methods, and associated cabinets, transformers, and power connections. Work also included fiber terminations and testing to meet IADOT standards.
  • Traffic signing work included removal of existing sign structures and installation of new systems including multiple cantilever and overhead trusses ranging from 34’ arms to 110’ spans, (2) dynamic message signs (DMS), mast arm sign supports, and over (4,600 SF) of Type B guide signage. Work also included construction of reinforced concrete foundations and drilled shafts up to 60” diameter for sign structures.
  • The project also included installation of (1) signalized intersection at 30th Avenue and South Expressway, featuring mast arm poles up to 75’, radar detection systems, GPS Opticom preemption, LED signal heads, and full controller integration with battery backup systems. Temporary traffic signals were installed and maintained during construction staging.
  • Additional work included bridge-integrated conduit systems, underdeck lighting installation, and coordination of staged construction requiring numerous lane and shoulder closures across the corridor.
