Work included the removal of (79) existing light poles and (38) foundations, installation of (6) 120’ high mast lighting towers, and installation of (58) roadway lighting poles. The project also included (9) temporary lighting systems, (9) control cabinets, (49) handholes, (3) meter pedestals, and over (20,800 LF) of electrical circuits, with drilled shaft foundations constructed in sandy soils with high groundwater using wet slurry methods.
The ITS scope included installation of extensive fiber optic and communications infrastructure, including multiple fiber cable systems, HDPE conduit installed by trenching and boring methods, and associated cabinets, transformers, and power connections. Work also included fiber terminations and testing to meet IADOT requirements.
Traffic signing work included removal of (6) existing overhead sign structures and installation of new systems, including (2) dynamic message signs (DMS) and multiple overhead sign trusses ranging from 66’ to 125’ spans. Additional work included installation of over (12,600 SF) of Type B guide signage, new structural foundations, and breakaway sign systems.
Construction also involved bridge-integrated conduit systems, structural excavation and concrete work, and coordination of extensive staged operations requiring approximately 80–90 lane closures across the corridor.
