- Work included removal and replacement of lighting infrastructure, installation of (54) roadway lighting poles, (1) control cabinet, (9) handholes, and over (10,000 LF) of electrical circuits, along with underdeck lighting and drilled shaft foundations constructed using wet slurry methods in challenging soil conditions.
- The ITS scope included installation and removal of fiber optic and communication systems, including over (20,000 LF) of fiber optic cabling, HDPE conduit installed via trenching, boring, and plowing methods, and associated cabinets, grounding systems, and testing infrastructure. Work also included full OTDR testing and system integration into the regional network.
- Traffic signing included removal and replacement of existing structures, installation of cantilever and overhead sign trusses (including 40ā arms and 85ā spans), drilled shaft foundations, and installation of over (2,600 SF) of Type B guide signage along with breakaway post systems and roadway delineation improvements.
- The project also included installation and phasing of (4) permanent traffic signal systems at multiple Madison Avenue intersections, including Iā80 ramp terminals and adjacent roadways. Work included mast arm poles, radar detection systems, GPS Opticom preemption, LED signal heads, conduit systems, controller upgrades, and full programming. Temporary traffic signals were installed, maintained, and later removed as part of staged construction sequencing.
- Additional work included conduit systems embedded within bridge structures and barrier rails, reconstruction of electrical and ITS infrastructure, and coordination of staged construction requiring numerous lane closures and full interstate closures for overhead sign installation.
Phase 20 served as the final phase of more than 20 years of continuous CBIS corridor improvements, completing one of the largest and most complex infrastructure programs in the region.
